What do we test?
The majority of the evaluation will take place on the Senaptec Sensory Station. The Sensory Station is a state-of-art sensory evaluation & training station which assesses 10 visual and sensorimotor skills. With this data we can determine an individual’s strengths and opportunities to improve sensory performance. In addition to the Senaptec testing, we also perform traditional vision therapy tests to better understand the clients visual system and what it may need to improve on. The results from this test will allow the vision therapist to create customized treatments and exercises for the athlete.
Types of testing:
At the Eagle Eye Vision Care we offer two types of visual performance tests:
Sports Enhancement Testing- Includes testing on the Senaptec Sensory Station, perceptual testing, and a comprehensive report with areas in need of improvement and recommendations from Dr. Keirsten Eagles.
Sports Concussion Testing- Includes testing on the Senaptec Sensory Station, visual perceptual testing specific for a concussion, and a comprehensive report with the areas in need of improvement and recommendations from Dr. Eagles.
What happens after testing?
After the full evaluation is completed the vision therapist will compile all the data from evaluation and your most recent eye exam records into a comprehensive report that will be reviewed by Dr. Eagles. From there, using Dr. Eagles recommendations and the data, a customized training plan will be created and training can begin!
Why be tested? What if I’m not an athlete?
When playing sports, the eyes have to take in a large amount of information. Often times, lighting and other environmental factors can hinder an athlete’s performance. Dr. Eagles is dedicated to helping athletes improve their depth perception, eye-hand coordination, reaction time, speed and span of visual perception, and concentration.
This is not just for athletes! While our primary patient base consists of athletes, vision training is for anyone who is engaged in physical activities that involved vision (which is pretty much everything).
If your performance can be improved by increasing your reaction time, anticipating and acting on your opponent’s next moves, and seeing your peripheral space clearly, give us a call today.
